Details

This project involves scientific support for the eradication and control of the clawed frog. This species has recently invaded the Douvebeek (West Flanders), near protected natural areas with fire salamander populations. The Agency for Nature and Forests has rapid response actions in progress. The research will map the distribution through traditional fieldwork and environmental DNA (eDNA), and also collect ecological data on reproduction and habitat use. This knowledge can inform management strategies.
