The Research Institute for Nature and Forest reports two-yearly on the state of nature in Flanders (Northern Belgium). The Nature Report 2005 evaluates the state of species and ecosystems, the pressures, the sustainable use, the policy efforts and the public attitudes towards biodiversity. Printed copies of the summaries can be obtained from nara AT inbo.be.
The full reports have been written in Dutch. The most important conclusions are also reported in an easy-reference English summary. These can be downladed as PDF-files.
2007
Biodiversity indicators 2007 presents 22 Flemish biodiversity indicators according to the focal areas of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the EU biodiversity headline indicators, in order to track progress towards the achievement of the 2010 target.

The Biodiversity Indicators 2006 is an updated version of the English summary of the Flemish Nature Report 2005 presenting 33 indicators.

2005
The English summary of the Nature Report 2005 presents 33 indicators in line with the focal areas from the Biodiversity Convention and the European headline indicators. Although the available information yields a partially incomplete picture, the overall assessment allows to conclude that the state strongly varies between ecosystem types and that current policy efforts are too limited to realize the 2010-target.
