The Forest Soil Condition database provides data on chemical and physical soil properties, as well as general soil information (FAO soil types, parent material), for 5289 plots located in 28 countries. The data stored are the result of a transnational Level I soil survey, realised and reported by each country individually. Some of the surveys at the Level I plots date back to 1985 whereas others were collected as late as 1998. Most plots, however, were surveyed in the years from 1993 to 1995 (2498 plots).
Since 2002 the structure of the FSCC database has been reorganised thoroughly, as all data are now stored in a consistent Oracle database.
Currently, the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission holds the acutal data. Contact Roland Hiederer or Marc Van Liederkerke for more information.
