Variability in C-stock assessment methods FSCC calculate the C-stocks in forest soils on 10 Level I and 11 Level II plots in Flanders, as a case study, based on both the survey data of the first forest soil inventory in the early '90 and based on the data of the recent BioSoil survey. ( 1.6 Mb)
Benchmark site selection FSCC developed an example for Flanders on how to select your benchmark sites. ( 61 kb)

Comparison between WRB-1998 and WRB-2006 At the onset of BioSoil only WRB-1998 was available. With this version the BioSoil training courses were executed in Vienna, Brussels and Madrid. In 2006 a new version of the classification key appeared. It was agreed that within the BioSoil project the soils would be classified according to the most recent key. To facilitate countries that had already worked with the old key a report on the difference between the two version of WRB was written. ( 2.3 Mb)
Field Checklist for Classifying forest soil according to WRB Within the framework of the BioSoil project, the FSCC prepared a field checklist for classifying forest soil profiles according to the World Reference Base for soil resources (WRB-2006) ( 1.1 Mb)
Case Studies on Forest Soil Profile Description and Classification As part of the FSCC-BioSoil training course held in Brussels November 2005, a two days excursion was organised. The excursion report written for this excursion has in the meantime undergone a complete metamorphosis and all classifications are updated to WRB-2006. ( 5.8 Mb)
Excursion guide, Biosoil Workshop To inform about the important changes made between the old classification key WRB-1998 to the new WRB-2006, a workshop was organised in Brussels, March 2007. During the excursion 3 rather different level I soil profiles were visited and soil genesis, morphology and classification problems were discussed. The report includes some of the discussions made during the excursion day, and the classification names are updated with additional information collected together with the participants. ( 13.8 Mb).
