Spiders as bio-indicators for nature conservation in Flanders
At the Research Institute for Nature and Forest, spiders are used as bio-indicators for nature conservation purposes in Flanders. As we have good knowledge of the distribution patterns of the different species, spiders are also used to evaluate nature conservation measures. This species group is highly suitable to assess human-caused disturbances on natural and semi-natural ecosystems. More specifically, habitat fragmentation and pollution through heavy metals are treated in our research. For more information, please contact us.
